Beyond Awareness: Understanding Sexual Harassment and Sexual Assault (Equal Justice Talks Webinar)

Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities may experience unique vulnerabilities related to sexual harassment and sexual assault, making education, awareness, and self-advocacy especially important. This webinar will explore sexual harassment and sexual assault through a disability-informed lens, including recognizing inappropriate or concerning behaviors, understanding consent and personal boundaries, identifying potential risk factors, and knowing when and how to seek help.
Participants will gain practical information and strategies for promoting safety, strengthening self-advocacy, and supporting individuals with IDD in recognizing and responding to situations involving sexual harassment or sexual assault.
About the Presenter:
Bianca Najera is the Training and Technical Assistance Coordinator for the New Jersey Self-Advocacy Program. She graduated from Montclair State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and minors in Family Science, Human Development, and Child Advocacy and Policy. Bianca works with individuals across the state to provide trainings on a variety of topics. She is passionate about helping adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities live more fulfilling and empowered lives.
