The Arc of New Jersey hosts a number of conferences and advocacy events throughout the year.
Advocacy at the State House
The Arc of New Jersey advocates with legislators and decision-makers throughout the year. Our advocacy also includes two celebrations at the State House for Developmental Disability Awareness Month in March and Family Caregivers Awareness Month in November.
Self-Advocacy
The New Jersey Self-Advocacy Project hosts events throughout the year, including an Annual Conference in the Fall and an Awards Luncheon each spring. In addition, self-advocates learn how to be healthy as part of the Healthy Lifestyles Project which is funded through a grant awarded by the Horizon Foundation for New Jersey. The program aims to provide people with I/DD with functional education about the importance of healthy choices related to diet, exercise and stress management.
Mainstreaming Medical Care
The Mainstreaming Medical Care Conference is geared toward those interested in providing quality healthcare to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The event includes keynote speakers, workshops, and important sessions on behavioral and health policy issues that are important to the developmental disability community.
Awards Dinner
Each year The Arc of New Jersey takes time to honor individuals, organizations and businesses that support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.
DD Awareness Month Student Contest Winners
Each year, The Arc of New Jersey sponsors a Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month contest to raise awareness about the abilities of people with developmental disabilities.
