6/8/21: Getting Back on Transit: Staying Healthy and Mobile in 2021

Presented by Melody Bundy and Louis Hoffman of NJTIP @ Rutgers, this webinar will discuss community-based travel safety, safe use of accessible public transportation, and include a virtual trip to the beach. It will also highlight NJ TRANSIT’s VAXRIDE initiative: helping people in New Jersey identify vaccine sites they can access using public transportation. VAXRIDE is powered by data from the NJ Department of Health, organized by NJ TRANSIT, with additional transit option information provided by NJTIP.

Melody Bundy is a program manager with experience in travel training and ten years of experience in education. Most of Ms. Bundy’s work includes training individuals to use public transportation to become independent travelers. She has experience as a trainer with community organizations and high school transition students, and her professional strengths focus on program/curriculum development and implementation. She received her Master of Public Administration degree in Non-Profit Management from Capella University and Bachelor degree in Economics from Seton Hall University. She was recognized in 2017 as Provider of the Year by the Passaic County Workforce Development Board Disability Committee and was elected Transportation Chair for the Bergen County Workforce Development Board. Currently, she serves on the Board of Directors of the Association for Travel Instruction, the industry’s national leading organization of travel training.

Louis Hoffman serves as a program manager and has been a travel instructor with NJTIP since 2008. He specializes in group travel instruction programs for older adults and people with disabilities, as well as Connect to Transit workshop training for professionals. Mr. Hoffman is a graduate of the School of Social Work at Rutgers University with a concentration in Nonprofit and Public Management as well as an area of emphasis in aging. He was a recipient of a 2012-13 Fellowship in Aging. Mr. Hoffman currently manages multiple projects with schools and human service agencies.
