12/5/23: Emotional Intelligence

Did you know that emotional intelligence, or understanding and responding to other people's feelings, is important not only in our relationships but in our success when working, too? This class teaches you how to develop your emotional intelligence through focus on four core skills: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management. Through these skills, we will learn how to identify emotions in ourselves and others, practice empathy, discover how these skills can help us to communicate more effectively, and much, much more! Sara Brown is the Coordinator for STRIVE WorldWIDE program at PSL Services/STRIVE. Sara enjoys building relationships with participants and furthering inclusion through education. Sara studied sociology at the University of Southern Maine and is Ed Tech III certified in the state of Maine. Dr. Anne Ryan is the Online Program Director for STRIVE WorldWIDE, an online program designed to teach independent living skills to individuals with intellectual disabilities and autism. Anne’s background prior to joining STRIVE is in higher education, serving as an Academic Dean and Campus President. Anne’s academic research has focused on providing access to higher education in underserved populations. Anne lives in Kennebunk, ME with her husband Brian, son Oli, and dog, Stan.
