The Arc of NJ's Executive Director Tom Baffuto released the following statement in response to the House Energy and Commerce Committee's budget plan:
The Arc of New Jersey is greatly disheartened by the Medicaid proposals moving forward in our nation’s capital. Every service that people with intellectual and developmental disabilities rely on is funded by Medicaid. Any reduction in federal dollars to the State of New Jersey will negatively impact the lives of thousands of individuals and their families who depend on this program for everything from group homes and day programs to respite and supported employment services. We urge all of New Jersey’s congressional delegation to recognize the devastating impact these proposals will have on our State Budget and the consequences we will endure if these changes are enacted. The quality of life for people with IDD and their families will be severely diminished if we don’t change course now, before it’s too late.
