Understanding Alzheimer’s Disease as a Co-Occurring Condition in Down Syndrome: Insights from the Alzheimer Biomarkers Consortium-Down Syndrome (ABC-DS) Study

Wednesday, July 15, 2026

Hosted by The Arc of New Jersey's Health Care Advocacy, join this webinar to learn more about the Alzheimer's disease as a co-occurring condition among people with Down syndrome.

Individuals with Down syndrome are at an elevated risk for developing Alzheimer's disease in their lifetime and represent the largest genetically defined population vulnerable to this disease. The ABC-DS is a research project that follows a group of volunteers with Down syndrome to examine the early signs and risks of Alzheimer’s disease. To do this, data is gathered through direct assessment of memory and learning, caregiver-based questionnaires, examining day-to-day functioning, blood samples, and some volunteers do brain scans to evaluate many aspects of brain functioning.

Speakers:
Dr. Sharon Krinsky-McHale and Dr. Gabriela Eguiarte-Diaz
