Applied behavior analysis (ABA) is a type of interpersonal therapy in which an individual works with a practitioner individually. This specific therapy focuses on improving specific behaviors, such as social skills, communication, reading, and academics, as well as adaptive learning skills. ABA is effective for children and adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, as well as many Psychological Disorders.

The goal of ABA is to establish and enhance socially important behaviors. Such behaviors can include academic, social, communication, and daily living skills; essentially, any skill that will enhance the independence and/or quality of life for the individual.

Despite the evidence-based positive outcomes of ABA, finding and obtaining these services can be complicated and costly depending on the individual’s circumstances.

Jon Gottlieb, Esq., the Director of Information Services at Autism New Jersey, will be discussing Medicaid funding for ABA. He will be addressing many of the laws and potential obstacles of obtaining these services. Mr. Gottlieb will review the specifics surrounding providers, insurance coverages, as well as ways to maximize insurance benefits for individuals and their families seeking these services.
