The APHA Disability Section will be conducting a webinar sharing results from current research studies they have been focusing on throughout the past year. This webinar will focus on sexuality and intellectual disability.
Dilana Schaafsma, assistant professor at Maastricht University - Gouverneur Kremers Centrum in the Netherlands, will identify determinants of teaching sex education, and the implications for developing and delivering sex education to adults with intellectual disabilities with the aim to improve the development of future sex education programs for people with intellectual disabilities.
Gilbert Gonzales MHA, a Ph.D. student at the University of Minnesota, will be discussing access to health care and health outcomes for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) populations. His presentation will discuss disability issues unique to older sexual minorities and present findings on disability among older adults in same-sex relationships.
