X-WR-CALDESC:The first 1\,000 days refers to a child’s life from day one of
conception until the age of 2. This is a unique period of opportunity whe
n the foundations of ideal neurodevelopment\, growth\, and health are esta
blished. Problematic and traumatic experiences during the first 1\,000 day
s can have a life-long effect on health and well-being\, including increas
ed risk of future engagement in concerning and problematic behaviors. Targ
eted interventions during this period may play a vital role in reducing pr
 oblematic behavioral\, emotional\, psychological\, social\, cognitive\, an
d physical health outcomes throughout the lifespan. This training introduc
es professionals to the research that supports the first 1\,000 days of li
fe\, examines problematic factors and experiences that may occur during th
is critical stage of development\, and implications for future adverse hea
lth outcomes and problematic behaviors. Implications for intake\, screenin
g\, intervention\, management\, and prevention will be discussed throughou
t this training. Insights from the fields of neurocriminology and nutritio
nal neuroscience will be incorporated throughout. Empirically based resear
ch findings are highlighted throughout this training.
