X-WR-CALDESC:Excessive sugar consumption is a threat to human health and ma
 y contribute to adverse emotional\, behavioral\, cognitive\, and physical
health consequences. Research has also found that excessive sugar consumpt
ion may play a role in externalizing behavioral problems (e.g.\, aggressio
 n and impulsivity)\, including criminality. Designed for professionals\, t
his training provides attendees with an overview of excessive sugar consum
ption and its related causes and consequences through a neurocriminologica
l\, clinical\, and forensic lens. Implications for screening and intervent
ion will also be discussed during this training. Other relevant topics of
interest discussed include blood sugar dysregulation (e.g.\, hypoglycemia
and hyperglycemia)\, central nervous system dysfunction\, chronic stress a
nd adverse life experiences\, neurocognitive impairments\, criminal recidi
vism and offender reentry\, prenatal sugar consumption and the first 1\,00
0 days of life research\, hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal (HPA) axis dysfun
 ction\, microbiota-gut-brain axis dysfunction\, negative emotionality\, ri
 sk-taking behaviors\, self-control deficits\, and the western diet among o
thers. Empirically based research findings and case studies will be discus
 sed throughout this training.
