The Arc of NJ's Healthcare Webinar - "Grieving Lives Lost and Loss of Lives"
The Arc of New Jersey's Mainstreaming Medical Care Program is delighted to announce a four-part Healthcare Webinar Series to be held on four Tuesday mornings in May: the 3rd, 10th, 17th, and 24th at 10:30 am. Each webinar will feature a 60 minute presentation, followed by up to 30 minutes for Q & A. The webinars are available at no charge, but registration is required.
Some lost parents, siblings, friends; others lost jobs, programs, homes; all have lost a sense of familiar and an expectation of predictability. People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) have shouldered more and diverse losses from COVID than any other population. Understanding this, acknowledging it, and taking concrete steps to support the myriad losses experienced by the IDD community is critical.
This webinar will explore the breadth and depth of loss experienced by members of this community and offer some suggestions and tools for supporting people to grieve those losses healthfully. It will also suggest strategies for addressing unresolved grief reactions and avoiding their ability to magnify the grief of future loss.
