September is National Emergency Preparedness Month

In the event of an emergency such as hurricane, flood, earthquake, terrorist attack it is very important that every individual be prepared. For individuals with disabilities, special health conditions or other special needs it is critical. Should an emergency arise, response systems such as police, fire and hospitals will be overwhelmed and people should be prepared to be "on their own" for the first 72 hours.

Take the first step by becoming informed. Look over generic emergency preparedness information and start to think about what you and your family may need. Then evaluate your personal needs and develop a specific plan that addresses you special needs. Put together kits for both sheltering in place and if you have to evacuate. Use the great resources listed below to help you determine what you will need.
